Natural Feeding

When Emmy was younger she suffered terribly with food intolerances and lost lots of weight. It took me a while to sort her diet and find the right food for her to get back on track and gain weight. I was introduced to Burns Complete food. This was the only food that seemed to get her on the right path to normality. As Burns is a natural, complete food it inspired me to research into Natural Feeding a bit more and to understand what we were feeding our dogs and how far away we have come from their natural feeding habits in the wild. I read many books and looked at endless websites to find myself overwhelmed with the information I had gathered and began to ask myself these questions.

What have we been feeding our pets?

Did we know what was in the commercial foods that we thought were doing our animals good?

How much damage were we actually causing to our pets?

What benefits would Natural Feeding offer to our pets?

What other dangers are we subjecting our pets to?

All these questions soon became apparent in my research. Amoung many websites I came across Canine Health Concern, this website and the founder has been a huge inspiration to my research and how I feed and treat my pets. Canine Health Concern made their research public, not only in promoting natural feeding but also explaining issues on the effects of vaccinations and other chemicals that are used on our pets today. The founder of this website is Catherine O'Driscoll, she has written a variety of books, reports and columns and also offers seminars and foundation courses to make people aware of the unexplained dangers we are exposing our pets to. All her research and work has been carried out due to the tragic loss of a few her dogs at an early age. This led her to question the reasons of this tragic loss.

From Catherine's research and ideas this opened many queries for myself. I have looked at many different people / vets who promote natural feeding and discovered many interesting facts about why we should feed naturally. I managed to answer my questions from my research including the ones that appear at the top of this page. I would like to share my research with others to promote how important it is to our pets why we should go back to basics.

Here are many of the books and websites that I came across while researching. Most, if not all the books I have purchased myself and I highly recommend.
